Your First Visit

Welcome! You’re in the right place. We’re going to take AMAZING care of you!

We pride ourselves in providing exceptional care to our patients by adhering to the highest surgical standards. Our oral surgeons, registered nurses and assistants spend time with you from your first visit, before your surgery, and all the way through to ensure all questions are answered and you are comfortable. We like hanging out with you so much we are just going to continue to stay with you through recovery.

Oral Surgery Associates’ doctors are board certified / board eligible oral surgeons and we are one of a few oral surgery practices in the area with Registered Nurses. Our experienced and caring RNs closely monitor our patients in surgery and through recovery. (We keep our eyes on you the whole time). We believe the care we provide is a reflection on who we are.

Safety and Comfort is Our First Priority (and it shows).

Your initial appointment will consist of a consultation explaining your diagnosis and treatment options. Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:
  • Your surgical referral slip and x-rays taken in the last 12 months (you don’t need a referral or an x-ray. If you don’t have one we will happily take one)
  • A list of medications and dosages you are presently taking
  • Past medical history
If you have medical or dental insurance, please bring copies of your insurance cards. This will save time and allow us to process your claims.

IMPORTANT: All patients under 18 years of age in Iowa and 19 years of age in Nebraska must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at the consultation visit.

Consultation

We care for patients with a variety of surgical needs. You will meet with a surgeon and talk about how best to treat your condition. Depending on the situation, sometimes the surgery can be done the same day and sometimes it is scheduled on a following day. If you are interested in scheduling a consultation and same-day surgery, please talk to our scheduling desk and they can provide you with the details. Remember, if you are going to sleep the day of your surgery, you may have nothing to eat or drink 6 hours prior to your surgery. This is for your safety. You will also need an adult to drive you home.

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are currently taking any medication (i.e. heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.).

If an unforeseen circumstance requires you to change or cancel your scheduled appointment, we ask that you provide us with 48 hours notice.

X-Rays

If your dentist has taken recent x-rays, please request that they send them to our office.

If additional films are necessary, we can certainly take them.
